University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) is looking for a tenure track position in the field of Metallomics in environmental and biological systems. The position itself is a §99 position which offers academics with high potential and the relevant achievements the opportunity of an academic carrier ranging from a postdoc position to that of assistant professor and on to associated professor. The position of associated professor can be achieved at the latest six years after the appointment. The position is full time (40 hours) limited to six years. The employment is aimed to start on 1st of April 2025. Gross month salary is at least € 4,752.30 (14 × a year, in addition to career development program and an extensive range of social benefits).

Tasks and focus areas

  • Research in the field of Analytical Chemistry with a focus on ICP-MS, chromatography and metallomics (elemental speciation analysis, metal-biomolecule interaction)
  • Teaching and supervision or co-supervision of final papers within the scope of legal possibilities
  • Transfer of knowledge and the promotion of junior researchers in line with the social responsibility of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences
    Assumption of administrative tasks within the framework of university self-administration
  • Acquisition and management of competitively funded national and international research projects
  • Activities addressing research questions in the BOKU competence areas “Agricultural Production and Food”, “Renewable Raw Materials and New Technologies”, “Biotechnology” and “Landscape, Water, Habitat and Infrastructure”
  • Publication in Q1 analytical chemistry journals
  • Teaching in the fields of general and analytical chemistry
  • Further development of general and analytical chemistry courses in Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral programs at BOKU

Requirement profile

  • Completed doctorate in a relevant field
  • Excellent publication achievements as well as international orientation and recognition
  • Willingness and ability to lead your own research team incl. the necessary funding this requires (third-party funding)
  • Enthusiasm for outstanding teaching
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English or willingness to learn German in the first two years
  • Experience in the field of ICP-MS and separation techniques
  • Experience in teaching (lectures and exercises) in the field of analytical chemistry
  • Experience in the acquisition, management and implementation of research projects
